Battle Beanie

This beanie is for our soldiers in Iraq to wear under their helmets. It really helps for extra warmth.

Here's what some folks have been doing with this pattern:

Our Church, Westminster Presbyterian in Amarillo, TX ,has sent over 50 Battle Beanies to various troops in Iraq and Afghanistan this year. We have two members who started sending monthly packages to 20 or more of our servicemen who are connected with our congregation two years ago.

One of these members sent a package to a West Point graduate who has served in Iraq, came home and is now serving in Germany. He wrote her back that the beanies were wonderful during the cold German nights. He kept one and gave the others to his platoon members. He wrote,"Whoever invented these is terrific...I don't know how they came up with the idea but the beanie is great. It's comfortable and even keeps our ears warm."
