Hello all,

I trust you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had ourselves a serious 3 days. We had a major holiday, a daughter-in-law birthday and a wedding (at which time we added another daughter-in-law).

The wedding went off without any big problems...except for the little black puppy that kept running into the church in search of attention. Cries of "grab him" and "don't you dare jump up" rang out. Makes for a good memory though.

I wanted to share some with you about my son in Iraq, Mark. He called and told me he had gotten the beanies and they all loved them...and, "Mom, could you make some more?". Now what would you of said? "Of course, honey would 20 do?" "Would 30 be better?". He wants all I can make...so, here's the call!!!!

We need to make Battle Beanies for our soldiers...in large quantities. They don't take them off, they sleep in them. They put these beanies under their helmets for extra warmth. Mark is in freezing weather and snow is coming.

These beanies are easy to make. I made 8 in less than 30 minutes. He's a marine and wanted black, I'm assuming all branches would want black also. The pictures show me sewing the beanies with white thread, but you understand that black is the better choice...right?!!!!! The first fleece I used was very expensive and super soft...but it wasn't the best choice. The cheaper was firmer and worked better. Be sure and put the stretchy direction according to the pattern arrow.

This is not just a Paisley Pincushion pattern...it's just something I whipped up to help. Use it, change it, share it. Just send those beanies overseas. One size fits all. A flat rate priority box will hold at least 20-25 beanies.

Everyone knows a soldier over there or a family of a soldier. Keep me posted on the number you send and we will update a running total on the web page.

Thanks so much!!!
Katie

PS. I've sent 9 so far and will post another 30 on Monday.
